BC RICH 1983 MOCKINGBIRD - REBUILD BY FELINE GUITARS

A handsome and stylish BC Rich (originally an NJ series from 1983)
- serial number R6887

A lovely guitar that I got my hands on and used as a project to rebuild

Neck through maple with mahogany wings - It features an all access neck joint
Original pearl logo was accidentally sanded through when stripping finish (it was only a thin one) so replacement mother or pearl R was installed.

Neck was refretted and dot inlays replaced with diamonds
We used super jumbo frets for the refret , so now so easy to play

We decided to upgrade the hardware too

  • So went with Graphtech Ratio tuners with optimised ratio for each string , and added some stair-step buttons to match the classic BC Rich look
  • The old cast quadmatic bridge was a bit worn so we went with the lovely Schaller Signum wraparound, which comes with locking posts to make it rock solid
  • swapped out the electronics for some nice CTS pots with a custom taper made for Bare Knuckle pickups, and switchcraft switch and jack
  • Had Oil City Pickups make some pickups - the bridge is like a Duncan JB and the neck is like a hotter PAF
  • The paint finish is very special - we had it done in one of those chameleon  colour shifting paints that look a different colour depending on the angle you view it
It goes from Teal to Cobalt Blue (when viewed straight on) to purple
I have included video clips so you can see some of that colour shift

I've included a couple of pre-paint images and the original serial number and damaged logo for transparency purposes.
